THANKS FOR THE wonderful RIDE, GMC!

now that I’ve been house for 2 weeks, I have lastly recuperated from my household vacation. since we online on the West coastline as well as our households online Out East, each time we cross the Mississippi, it turns into a full-on household Vacation, funding letters required.

Three thumbs method up

This year, we handled to sync up my plans to go to the BlogHer seminar in new York City with my mom, step-dad, sister-in-law, sister, brother, nephew, as well as niece to ensure that we might go to all type of people at once. We augmented our already ambitious cross-country flight with a monster road trip.

Big shout-out to GMC for offering the wheels (and vehicle seats!) for this adventure.

We flew from SFO to JFK on my preferred airline, Virgin America. It was smooth (well, all however the gogo wifi, which was patchy as well as made me grumpy!). The incredible dude who coordinates such things with blog writers made sure that the GMC terrain was waiting on us at a mysterious off-airport great deal (with awesome elevators for the cars!) as well as we were great to go.

Alec as well as I stuffed it full of luggage as well as explored a few of the neato features of the noise system before rolling away. We hit the road with the passenger-as-copilot tracking the iphone maps as well as headed for dinner in the Bronx. Apparently, that was our very first mistake.

Upon getting into the terrain after dinner, our GPS seemed confused. rather than shooting us Up North with new England, she was now suggesting we go Down South with new Jersey. Uh oh. We seemed to be on an unnoticeable limit between completely different routes. each time our vehicle dealt with one way, we’d get one set of directions; as well as when we turned around, we’d get the opposite directions.

Mom, he’s touching me

Ultimately, we headed towards jersey as well as didn’t make it as well far out of The City before discovering a hotel for the night.

In the morning, we packed up our gear into the (ample) trunk as well as headed off for the genuine road-tripping. We made quite great time including a few rest stops (for wrestling as well as running) as well as a few meals.

Wrestling Stop

While we were in the Adirondacks, the terrain served us well for beach excursions, hikes, rainy days, runs to the town dump (sorry GM!), as well as it even brought the bike as well as cheering section (us) for Alec’s victorious triathlon with my family.

Ready for the beach

After a week of Vacation, I took the train back down to nyc for BlogHer while Alec stayed up with the youngsters as well as MY parents at the lake. I desire I might get him to tell much more of that story. He is a very hero.

I truly liked driving the Terrain. It definitely assists that it’s about 5 years newer than my present car. For a huge crossover vehicle, it handled well. It felt like I was driving a vehicle (except for one or two minor complaints)

What I liked:

rear view camera: it was extremely useful to see the bit things (like people, curbs, as well as vehicles!); I did some method reverse-parking as well as discovered it a bit trippy

USB port: liked being able to quickly fee as well as listen to our iPhones

Bluetooth wired with the vehicle speakers: when it worked, it was awesome. seems to support as much as 3 phones, however when we tried to test it by calling each other (within the car, mind you), the vehicle got confused.

Steering wheel controls: gain access to to the music system as well as phone answering without reaching as well far. great thinking, wise vehicle design-y people.

XM Radio: in the mountains, there are extremely few routine radio stations. say thanks to you XM!

Good MPG (better than my Subaru) as well as high security ratings

What I didn’t like:

Wide turn radius: it seemed impossible to make tight corners. perhaps this understanding was exacerbated by us being lost so numerous times.

The brake pedal: it was as well high. I had to question if my small buddy Whitney would have been able to drive stop this vehicle at all.

Bottom Line: all in all it was a fantastic vehicle to drive for our trip. Do I believe every trip I make to the east coastline ought to include a multi-day drive-a-thon? Not so much.
